Scrolls

Women are faced with countless issues of gender inequality. My first scroll completed over a period of four months in 2016 is trying to find a narrative among these various issues. The scroll started with an empty mind and the drawings were shaped in  a stream of consciousness flow thinking about one issue to another and reading news. Different from the conventional scrolls, I choose to use this style of drawing as maintaining a sketchbook. The imagery that appeared through this process is almost surreal or folk like. It reminds me of the wall drawings that women in villages of India do in motif forms. This 60 feet scroll is turned into an experimental video. Various parts of this long drawing has informed the themes that i have depicted in my printmaking and illustration work.
